For the 17th time , the Concorso Italiano featured the best of Italian automotive heritage and
history. This year, the special features included a presentation of Italian Race Cars, a presentation of
Italian Race Stars, and a Concours Award for vintage Ferrari. For the first time,
Italian motorbikes have been included in the show.
Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Bizzarini, De Tomaso, Fiat, Iso,
Lancia, Maserati, Siata and other Italian marques occupied the
green at Quail Lodge as well during the 2002 event. Ford's new GT 40 premiered
and Bugatti showcased the new Veyron - featuring a W 16-cylinder engine of 7 litre
with an output of 1001 hp - good enough for a top speed in excess of 400 km/h (240 mp/h).
