Goodwood Revival 2013


September 13-15, 2013

The 2013 Goodwood Revival built on the success of last year's event, with a record-breaking more than 150,000 spectators attending the event over the weekend. Tickets were sold out long in advance - and many enthusiasts and long time fans were not able to be part of this year's revival.

St Mary's Trophy

One of the post popular spectacles at the annual Goodwood Revival - being held this year from 13-15 September - is the lively celebrity two-driver St Mary's Trophy race for saloon cars. This September's St Mary's Trophy featured two races for saloon cars of a type that raced between 1960 and 1966. Spectators were treated to thrilling and close-fought battles between such diverse and classic cars as Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Coupe, Mini Cooper S and Lotus Cortina (all three celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year) as well as Jaguar Mk2, BMW 1800 TiSA and Ford Galaxie 500,plus many rarely-seen period racing saloons, including a Fiat 1500, Vauxhall VX4/90, and a rare Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Sedan.

The Revival

As ever, the Revival offers visitors of all ages a chance to revel in the romance and glamour of motor racing as it used to be. It is the only sporting event in the world set entirely to a period theme, and every year, spectators and competitors take a magical step back in time by getting into the effervescent Goodwood spirit. The majority of visitors entered into the spirit of the event, dressing in appropriate clothing from the 1940s, '50s and '60s.

The world's finest collection of significant and authentic racing Ford GT40s gathered at the 2013 Goodwood Revival for an exceptional one-model race; the first time in history that a dedicated competition has ever been held for these iconic Ford racers.

At the 2013 Goodwood Revival - the nostalgic appeal of the world's most authentic historic motor race meeting is being augmented by a record variety of rare aircraft to complement the racing and period fashions, both in the skies and on terra firma.

  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - Junckers JU 52 Tempelhof Deutsche Lufthansa Another visitor from Germany: Junckers 52 - nicknamed Aunty Ju - still being operated by Deutsche Lufthansa after a meticulous restoration in the 80s.
  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - Boeing Stearman - Lady Mary Heath commemorate flight This Boeing Stearman had been flown in from Cape Town, South Africa, by pilot Tracey Curtis-Taylor to commemorate Lady Mary Heath's pioneering flight in 1928. .
  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - 1913 Avro 504 1913 Avro 504 - just turning 100 years old - these were among the very first planes providing the public with an opportunity to experience flying.
  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - De Havilland DH.60 Moth De Havilland DH.60 Moth - a two seat touring and training aircraft developed in the 20s in Great Britain.
  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - 1935 Ryan STA Super Sport 1935 Ryan STA "Super Sport" - featuring a 125 hp engine - these planes set several records in the late 30s.
  • Goodwood Revival 2013 - 1944 North American SNJ From across the Atlantic - 1944 North American SNJ. Equipped with a 550hp Pratt & Whitney radial engine, these were used as trainers by the U.S. forces as well as the RAF - where it was named the Harvard.
