More than 100 automobiles and 60,000 spectators came together on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills for the fourth annual Concours on Rodeo on Father's Day. Grouped together by classes - American Classics, Woodys, British Automobiles, French Automobiles, German Automobiles, Italian Automobiles, 50s & 60s Automobiles, Sports Cars, Hot Rods and Ferraris, the composition showcased some of the finest names in automobile history. Another section was dedicated to the very best examples of some Great Collections.

Walter P. Chrysler did not build automobiles before 1924, but influenced the industry with innovations like automatic clutches, synchromesh, and automatic overdrive within the first 10 years.

Built between '51 and '53, the C-Types were not only very successful on the racetrack - i.e. winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951 - but had one of the most beautiful designs as well.

Willy Messerschmitt - who built the first jet-powered airplane, the Me 262, in 1944 - created this 'Microcar'. The Tiger was the four-wheeled version, good for a top speed of 150 Km/h.

featuring a retractable roof similar to the Ford Skyliner. Built in Germany by Reutter on a Chrysler New Yorker chassis for the 1959 Geneva Auto Show - this is another one-of-a-kind automobile from the Petersen Collection.
Concours on Rodeo 2001 - 1930 Duesenberg J Murphy Roadster
1930 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Roadster,
featuring the 6.9 litre Lycoming straight-eight engine with four valves per cylinder - good for a top speed of nearly 120 mph. From the Bruce Meyer Collection.


Thanks to the collective effort of the organizers and participants, the 2001 Concours on Rodeo was again a spectacular show in the heart of Beverly Hills - and it remained a free event to the public. We are looking forward to the next edition on Fathers Day 2002 and in the years to come.
